Specification

16-36 PAIR Continuously Welded Armor – Instrumentation Cable PLTC Shielded

Applications:

The metal clad cable is an electrical wire that is often used where the maximum conductor and electrostatic interference protection is needed. It can operate in temperatures of up to 105°C in both wet and dry conditions. However, in case of emergency overload or short circuits, this mc wire can operate in temperatures up to 130°C and 250°C respectively. This electrical wire has a voltage rating of 300V, which makes it suitable for light weight power applications.

Also Known As:

16-36 pltc cable, 16-36 type pltc cable, 16-36 pltc wire, 16-36 instrumentation cable, 16-36 shielded instrument cable, 16-36 armoured instrument cable, 16-36 mc hl cable, 16-36 mchl cable, 16-36 metal clad cable, 16-36 aluminum armored cable, 16-36 mc cable, 16-36 mc wire, 16-36 mc cable wiring, 16-36 mc electrical wire.

Construction

Conductors:

Instrumentation cable conductors are made from soft bare annealed copper in accordance with ASTM B-3 and ASTM B-8. Copper is used for this application because of its amazing electrical properties and flexibility.

Insulation:

Insulation is very important in any electrical cable since it prevents the electrocution of cable handlers. This metal cable insulation is made of an individual PVC shield with aluminum polymer tape and a stranded tinned copper drain wire. The insulation is robust and highly flexible which makes it very easy to work with.

Overall shield:

The instrumentation cable overall shield is made of aluminum polymer tape and a stranded tinned copper drain wire. It relatively protects the conductor from electromagnetic interference and other external forces.

Armor:

The armor protects the cable from external damages in addition to the shield and is made using impervious continuously welded and corrugated aluminum.

Jacket:

This metal clad cable cord has an inner and outer cable jacket, which are both made of PVC. This material is resistant to flames, sunlight, chemicals, abrasion, corrosion, moisture, industrial solvents, oils, acids, alkalis, and radiation.
