18/2 SOOW cable is a portable power cord with outstanding resistance to weather, water and oil. The 600 volts cable is used in heavy duty applications such as marine and industrial set ups. Listed and approved by Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) and the Underwriters Laboratories (UL), this portable cord is a safe cable for use indoors and outdoors. The construction of this cable entails two conductors, insulation and a jacket. The conductors are colored differently for easy identification when installing or terminating. The conductor, insulation and jacket materials used are of high quality ensuring the cable performs as it should for the longest time period. The insulation and jacket materials used are oil and water resistant allowing the cable to be used in oil and wet areas. It supplies power at 10 amps. The cable is also flame retardant.

The conductor is developed in compliance with to the ASTM B 174 international standard. This power cable comes with 2 conductors of 10 amps. The 18/2 SOOW black cable has a conductor made of fully annealed stranded bare copper. Annealing is an important process that involves softening the copper. Rigid copper is difficult to deal with during installation and termination. Annealed copper makes it easy to cut and bend according to the needs of a customer. The conductor stranding is 16/30. The conductor is ideal for heavy duty power supply as it is rated 600 volts. The two conductors are colored differently to easily identify them. The cable is a versatile one thanks to the fact that its size ranges from 18 AWG to 2 AWG.
2 annealed stranded bare copper conductors of the 18/2 SOOW black cable are housed with a premium grade Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) insulation. EPDM is a synthetic rubber that protects the power cable from being affected by oil, weather, water, UV light, sunlight, moisture and chemicals. It also protects the end user from being electrocuted when using the cable. The insulation wall has a nominal outside diameter of 0.030 inches. The EPDM insulation ensures the cable offers optimal performance.
The 18/2 SOOW black has been jacketed with chlorinated polyethylene, CPE. The CPE works to protect the copper conductor and the EPDM insulation. CPE has been the go- to material thanks to its outstanding features such as the ability to resist oil, water, weather changes, chemicals, ozone, sunlight, UV rays and abrasion. One factor making CPE the most ideal jacket material is that during combustion, it releases a unique compound that makes the cable not catch fire. This is an important safety measure making the cable ideal in areas that could be prone to fire outbreaks. These features of CPE allow one to use the cable effectively and for a long time frame regardless of the working conditions.
