267-16-2308 Okonite FMR-N X-Olene FMR 600 Volt Instrumentation Cable, 8 Pairs - Overall Shield Type P-OS - 18 AWG
Applications:
Okonite FMR-N X-Olene FMR 600 Volt cable is a special cable used in nuclear plants. It is a flame-retardant and physically tough instrumentation cable with an improved version of EPR insulation. The cable is resistant to heat, oil, moisture, and chemicals. Some of the typical uses of this cable include but are not limited to power plants, substations, and critical circuits. The operating temperature of the cable is 90°C. It is approved for installations in conduits and cable trays when supported by the messenger wire. Moreover, the cable is approved for direct burial. Okonite FMR-N X-Olene is equally suitable for indoor and outdoor installations. Despite the fact that it is rugged, the cable is lightweight.
Also Known As:
267-16-2308 okonite, okonite cable, okonite wire, okonite instrument cable, instrumentation cable, instrument tray cable, direct burial cable, nuclear plant cable, control cable, okonite control cable, P-OS cable.
Standards:
- IEEE Standard - 383 LOCA
- ICEA S-73-532
- Class 1E
- IEEE 383 and 1202
Construction:
Conductor:
Class B tinned copper conductor. The pairs are color-coded in black and white, and the triads are color-coded in black, white, and red. The conductors are assembled with a left-hand lay, and fillers resistant to flames are placed in between.
Insulation:
Okonite FMR-N improved EPR insulation.
Jacket:
The X-Olene FMR thermoset jacket.
Shielding:
The shielding is full-coverage copper-polyester-Nomex tape and a 7- coated tinned copper drain wire that reflects the size of the conductor.
Specification:
Conductors: Tinned copper per ASTM B-33, Class B stranded per ASTM B-8.
Insulation: Okonite FMR-N meets or exceeds the electrical and physical requirements of ICEA S-73-532
Conductor Identification: Pigmented black and white in pairs, black, white and red in triads; white conductor numerically printed for group identification.
Assembly: Pairs or triads assembled with left-hand lay. Flame-retardant, non-wicking fillers included where required to provide a round cable.
Cable Shield: Copper/Polyester/Nomex tape overlapped to provide 100% coverage, and a 7-strand tinned copper drain wire, same size as conductor.
Overall Jacket: The X-Olene FMR compound meets or exceeds the requirements of thermoset jackets given in ICEA S-73-532.
