12/4 SOOW Black
The 12/4 SOOW black has the ability to work in extreme environments. The cable is not affected by weather changes. It is oil and water resistant. 12/4 means the cable is 12 AWG with four conductors. The heavy duty power cable supplies up to 600 volts of power. The 20 amps cable is very light to carry with you from point to point during installation because it weighs 276 Lbs per 1000 feet. The flame retardant cable comes in color black and has been constructed in line with various international standards. The cable comes with EPDM insulation and CPE jacket. These provide excellent protection to the four conductors.

This is a multi-conductor cable with four color- coded conductors. The conductors are made of fully annealed stranded bare copper wire. Copper is a great conductor and is taken through the annealing process enable it become soft and flexible. A rigid cable makes it difficult to carry out installation and termination. The copper conductor has been constructed in line with the class K stranding per ASTM B 174. The conductor makes the cable versatile as it gauge size runs from 18 AWG to 2 AWG. The conductor stranding stands at 65/30 with an outside diameter of 0.650 inches. The 20 amps 12/4 SOOW black cable transmits up to 600 volts of power.
This one comes after the copper conductor and is made of premium oil resistant Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM). This rubber like material is uniquely modified to shield the conductor from various damages. EPDM has great dielectric strength, oil resistant, water resistant and has low toxicity. The insulation of the 12/4 SOOW black wire also shield the user from being electrocuted and from short circuit. EPDM makes the cable safe for all to use.
The jacket of this portable SOOW Cord is made of Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE).the CPE protects both the copper conductor and the EPDM insulation. The CPE jacket is resistant to abrasion, sunlight, oil, ozone, chemicals and water. CPE is also a sturdy material with great durability and flexibility. It is also flame retardant and wit protect the 12/4 SOOW black cable from fire in the event such a situation arises.
Approvals and certification
The 12/4 SOOW black cable has been proven and tested to be safe by the following bodies;
- NEC (National Electrical Code) 501. 140 Class I Division 2
- Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA)
- Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
- NEC Article 400
The cable is used in systems of water purification, industrial machinery, handy compressors and in controls for instance in push button remotes. The cable can be used in marine applications thanks to its ability to resist water and oil. The jacket and insulation materials making up the 12/4 SOOW black wire enables it to be used for both indoor and outdoor applications. Its high voltage rating, 600 volts, allows the cable to be used in heavy duty industrial applications.
