Multi-Pair Cables - Each Pair Shield (EPS)-Non Plenum
Type CMR/CL3R – CMX Outdoor
Multi-Conductor Non-Plenum Each Pair Shielded(EPS)
It is designed with copper conductors to help in wiring systems of fire alarms. The cable is a multipurpose cable that can perform in both wet and dry environmental conditions, with a working temperature rating at 750C. Multi – Pair Cables have rip cords under the jacketing layer. Ripping cord makes stripping easy for termination. This enhances installation since there is no need to carry along termination tools. There are sequential markings and color coding for easy identification.
• Standards and Certifications
The following specifications should be considered:
a) Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Type CMR
b) CL3R – CMX Outdoor
c) cUL Type CMG, Flame Test 4
d) NEC Article 725 and 800
e) California State Fire Marshall
The cable measures 22 AWG through 2 AWG (American Wire Gauge) and ten feet long. Copper conductors are annealed to improve their workability. Copper is a good electrical conductor which ranks high in the conductivity series..
Insulating electrical cables is very important because it ensures safety of the user and the cable. Polypropylene is non-conducting and will not risk the life of the handler in electric shocks. It offers protection from chemical and mechanical damages, thus improving the service life of this Fire Alarm cable. The paired conductors have individual insulation to eliminate any contacts between them that could cause short circuits.
Each pair of the copper conductors is shielded with the Aluminum Mylar. Shielding improves the workability and service life of this cable. It prevents the conductors from overlapping by holding them together. Aluminum Mylar also helps in maintaining the phase identification of the cable. Shielding ensures that there is smooth signal transmission without distortion.
