Details

CMP Plenum Multi-Conductor Electronic Wire (Unshielded)

Plenum Multi-conductor electronic cable is a reliable electric wire that is widely used in industrial and commercial areas. It facilitates transmission of current to various electrical systems. The cable has a tough design that can withstand harsh conditions. The operating temperature range falls within 00C and 750C. However, the cable is meant for light-weight power supply applications because it has a voltage rating of just 300 volts. Plenum multi-conductor cable is available in the market in different sizes and with varying number of conductors. The smallest size you can purchase is 12 AWG while the largest size is 22 AWG. They also come in various lengths depending on the needs of your project.

Key features

• A maximum operating temperature of 750C
• Transmits current of up to 300 Volts
• A low smoke PVC jacket
• Can have up to 12 conductors
• Color coded conductors
• A low smoke PVC jacket
• Flexible cable
• Has sequential footage markings and rip cords
• It has stranded or solid bare copper conductors
• Abrasion, oil and water resistant
• Meets various industrial standards
• Available in various lengths and sizes

Conductors

The conductors are made of stranded or solid bare copper conductor. They are stranded in accordance to ASTM B-3, B-8 and B-286. The stranding helps the conductor maintain its flexibility even in a cold weather setting. Flexibility is an added advantage to this cable since it can easily bend even in constricted areas. It also makes installation easy which saves you time and money. Copper is a reliable metal and can transmit current at a faster rate compared to other metallic conductors. It is also cheap and affordable in the market hence you get the best at a lower rate. The conductor is resistant to moisture and corrosion hence long service life.
They are available in various sizes, which range from 12 up to 22 AWG. Not only does the size vary but also the number of conductors which is between 2 to 12 conductors. Each of the conductors is color coded for easy phase identification.

Insulation

CMP Plenum cable has a premium grade polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation. The insulation is color coded which enables one to identify the conductor. The insulation is responsible for protecting the user from electric shock given that it is unable to conduct electricity and heat. It also protects the conductor from external damage. PVC is a strong material which can perform strenuous tasks without getting damaged. It is resistant to chemicals, abrasion, flames, impact, corrosion, moisture, oil and lubricants.

Cable jacket

It is made of premium grade polyvinyl chloride. The cable jacket covers the whole cable construction. The choice of material should be tough since it’s the outermost layer and PVC meets this demand. It offers resistance to flames and releases little or less smoke in case of a fire outbreak. It’s also resistant to moisture, sunlight, abrasion, impact, chemicals, sunlight and industrial solvents. The jacket is flexible which makes it easy to work with and transport. The thickness of the jacket depends on the size or number of conductors.

The jacket has rip cords which allow easy stripping of the cable during installation or when identifying the cable. It also has sequential footage markings which reduces wastage and guess work during installation.

Approvals and Certifications

It is vital for electrical cables to undergo various tests in order to prove it has the stated attributes. The Plenum multi-conductor electronic cable has been tested and approved by the following international standards organizations;

• UL Type CMP/CL3P / cUL Type CMP/FT6
• NEC Article 725 & 800
• California State Fire Marshall
• Flame test
• MSHA Approved
• CSA Approved

Applications

Plenum electronic wire can be used in various industrial and commercial applications as long as it does not exceed 300 volts. It can also be used in power limited circuits or communication cable in plenum applications. Other application areas include;

• Remote control
• Signaling
• Security systems
• Communications
• Intercom or P.A system
• Sound or Audio systems
• Nurse call
• Background music wiring

Why go for the CMP Plenum multi-conductor electronic cable?

It is a versatile cable and can be used to supply power in various applications other than the one it’s specifically intended for. This saves you money since you can easily use it in other applications instead of buying new cables. Due to the rip cords and sequential footage markings the work load during installation is reduced which saves contractors time and labor. The Plenum cable is affordable in the market hence you don’t need deep pockets to buy a roll. The cable is also durable and can last you a lifetime. When installed in a building it maximizes safety in case of a fire outbreak since the materials used produces little or no smoke. Lastly it is high performance cable with minimal failures which improves its consistency in transmission of current.
