Conductor:
Stranded, bare, and fully annealed copper conductor, Class K per ASTM B174. Suitable for harsh conditions. The gauge is between 18 and 2.
Insulation:
Flexible Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer EPDM insulation resists fire, abrasion, oil, mechanical impact, sunlight, ozone, air, water, acids, alkalis, and weather.

4/3 SOOW- Black 600V
SOOW is an electrical cable whose name is an acronym. The initial S stands for Service, OO denotes that the cable has a reliable insulation which is resistant oil. W implies that this cable has a resilience towards the adverse effects of weather and water. SOOW cable is frequently used in the domestic and industrial applications where it has proved to be very efficient in rigs, monitoring cables, battery heads, big tools and machinery.
This cable is well designed with high tolerance to effects like ozone, oil, solvents, water, tearing and abrasion. It is also flame retardant and has long life which guarantees many years of service. “4” means that the cable is a 4 gauge size while the number ‘3’ shows that it has three conductors.
Efficiency
SOOW cable has three strands of copper conductors which are very flexible. Flexible cables are very easy to work with because they are easy to pull through the ducts and cable trays than the rigid un-annealed conductors. The annealing also makes this cable easy to cut for terminations. Wax paper fillers and tissue papers are used as separators for the conductors in the cable to prevent short circuiting. 4/3 SOOW Conductor
SOOW Cable is made up of conductors with various sizes. The usefulness of a cable relies on the type of the conductor. Copper is a good conductor which is affordable and readily available. Insulation
The internal insulation of this 4 gauge SOOW wire with 3 conductors is made of a good insulation material; EPDM. The ethylene propylene material used provides a premium grade, oil resistant insulation. The material is part of thermosetting groups of insulation which is fire retardant so the underlying conductor is safe even in the presence of fire as long as the stipulated temperature ratings for the conductor is not exceeded. With such insulation, this cable cannot easily fade under extreme heat and pressure.
Jacket
The wire has a powerful jacket on top of its insulation. With the punishing potential areas of application, the jacket is designed and made ofamaterial whichcan withstand, tearing and abrasion.
SOOW cable’s jacket is made of chlorinated polyethylene elastomer (CPE). This material is a thermoset, making it impermeable to oil and water.
