All the conductors of this cable are developed in line with class B stranding for copper wires. Stranding is the process of bundling up of small wires to form a large conductor. A stranded cable offers more flexibility than a solid wire of the same cross-sectional area and is also preferred because the individual wires offer a larger surface area, lower fatigue and lower resistance compared to a solid wire conductor. Stranding therefore improves the flexibility of the multi-conductor cable which makes it easy to install through cable trays and cable ducts.
Cable insulation is a vital attribute because it protects the underlying conductors from the adverse effects of various environmental factors that could degrade them and consequently interfere with power transmission. The multi-conductor TC shielded cable comes in a polyethylene insulation. Polyethylene is a reliable strong synthetic thermoplastic material made by polymerization of vinyl chloride.
