Aluminum Mobile Home Feeder cable has a type XHHW-2 cross linked polyethylene (XLP) insulation. The conductors are cabled together with a green XLP insulted aluminum ground. The grounded (neutral) conductor is identified by a longitudinal white stripe.

It has cross-linked polyethylene (XLP) insulation. The conductors are normally cabled together with XLP insulated aluminum ground or bare copper ground and covered with a reinforced binder tape. XLP insulation is tough and is resistant to impact, abrasion, chemicals, acids, oils, industrial solvents and changes in weather.
The cable jacket used in its design is polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). The jacket protects the inner components of the cable from external forces that may cause damage to it. PVC is robust and is resistant to oil, sunlight, water, flames, acids, chemicals, radiation, impact, abrasion and weather changes. On the cable jacket are sequential footage markings that help the user identify the appropriate length during installation without guess work.
It has a unique design compared to other aluminum cables since it has a grounded neutral conductor that is identified by a longitudinal white stripe.

How do I identify an Aluminum Mobile Home Feeder (MHF) Wire?
You can see four quadruplexed compacted conductors made of AA-8000 seriesaluminum alloy twisted together with any of the following specifications–
The four conductors have unique features such as the following –
- Neutral conductor – Has an insulation made of black cross-linked polyethylene with a white stripe.
- Phase conductors – There are two of them which are triple extruded. Their insulation is made of black cross-linked polyethylene (XLP). The Polarity ID is shown by a thin red stripe on the insulation surface of one of the phase conductors.
- Grounding conductor- This also has cross-linked polyethylene insulation, which has a green overall coating.
You can also find out that they are made of Aluminum when you strip the conductors off their insulation. You will see that the wires are a light gray rather than a coppery color as it would be if they were made of Copper.
What are the differences between RHH, RHW-2 and USE-2?
When it is Type RHH, it is suitable for dry locations and the conductor temperature should not become more than 90°C. RHW-2 can be used in wet or dry locations but the temperature requirement is the same as RHH. USE-2 then it is suitable for underground use, in both wet and dry locations with the same temperature requirements.
