American Mustang Type SHD-GC cables are designed for use with mobile or stationary mining equipment, continuous mining machines or longwall loading machines, blast hole drillers, heavy duty trailing cable where maximum protection is required. Also for medium and high voltage use on shovels, draglines, dredges, and cranes. This cable is also suitable for power distribution inmines where more flexibility is desired. The cable can also be used where a ground check conductor is required for fail-safe monitoring.
American Mustang Type SHD-GC cables have soft drawn annealed, flexible rope lay,tinned copper conductors wrapped with a semi-conductive tape (5-25 kV). The conductors are insulated with EPR, covered by a nylon semi conductive tape (5-25 kV) with a tinned copper braided insulation shield, 85% minium coverage. ( A Mylar separator is used between the phase conductor and insulation, SBR tape separates the copper ground wires and one HD EPR coated ground check. The outer jacket provides a moderate fill of the cable assembly, (nylon core rubber fillers applied as needed for balanced round cross section). The SBR tape is applied over the entire cabled assembly aiding core stability, and jacket strip ability. The outer jacket is black flame resistant, heavy-duty single pass CPE, which has excellent resistance to UV, oil, water, solvents, corrosives, cuts, tears, and abrasion.

American Mustang Type SHG-GC cable is designed with softly drawn and annealed copper conductors. Since bare copper wire has the high affinity to corrosive agents, it is tinned to protect it from corrosion. Annealing of the copper makes the conductor highly flexible, however they are wrapped together with a semi-conductive tape to improve cable integrity.
