Application:

Appropriate for all situations of corrosive environments in power circuits up to 5,000V & 8,000V in all installations of open air, conduit, and duct, cable tray when CT rated, in wet and dry locations. Main uses are for chemical plants, refineries, steel mills, industrial plants, commercial buildings, utility substations and generating stations. National Electric Code permitted for use at 105°C for continuous operation, 140°C for emergency overload conditions, and 250°C for short circuit conditions.

Conductor:

Has a semi-conducting conductor shield, with soft bare annealed copper per ASTM B-3, Class B stranding per ASTM B-8 (compressed) or ASTM B-496 (compact). The ground conductor has a soft bare annealedcompressedcopperper ASTM B-3, and withstranding ofClass B per ASTM B-8 sized in accordance to UL Standard 1072.

Insulation:

Ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) per ICEA S-97-682 with a semi-conducting insulation shield.

Shield:

Uncoated copper tape with a minimum 12.5% overlap per ICEA S-97-682.

Jacket:

Sunlight-resistant PVC per ICEA S-97-682 and UL Standard 1072.

MV105 THREE CONDUCTOR 5KV POWER CABLE

This cable is meant for heavy duty applications in corrosive environments given that it has three conductors. It has a voltage rating of 5000 volts and 8000 volts. The operating temperature of this cable is slightly higher compared to the previous cables. It normally operates at 105 degrees Celsius but in case of an emergency overload it can withstand temperatures up to 140 degrees Celsius and if a short circuit occurs it can withstand a temperature of 250 degrees Celsius. It’s mainly used in chemical plants, industrial plants, refineries and commercial buildings.

This cable has three copper conductors and a semi-conducting shield on the conductors. Among the three conductors is a ground conductor which also withholds current under normal operation of the cable. The conductors on this cable are also stranded which enhances flexibility of the conductors. The insulation is constructed from Ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) which also has a semi-conducting shield added to it. The insulation for the 5000 volt wire has 100 % coverage while for the 8000 volt option the coverage is 133%.

An overall shield is added to prevent mechanical and electromagnetic interferences from affecting the inner parts of the cable. The overall shield is made from uncoated copper tape. The cable has an outer jacket which conceals the inner components of the cable and is made from PVC material.
