Alpha Wire Coaxial Braid 1 Coax 900V Manhattan Electrical Coaxial Cable
The alpha wire coaxial cable is used in various military applications as well as industrial and commercial applications considering it is a versatile electrical cable. A coaxial cable simply means an electrical cable which has an inner conductor that is surrounded with a tubular insulating layer; the insulating layer is further surrounded by a conducting shield.
Most coaxial cables available in the market also have an outer jacket. This electrical cable is generally meant for heavy duty applications since it has a voltage rating of up to 900 volts. It is a long cable considering its minimum length is 100ft but can go up to 2000ft in length.
There are a variety of materials used in the construction of the coaxial cable. When it comes to the conductor the material used is either silver or copper plated steel wire. The conductor may be stranded or solid; the stranding enhances the flexibility of the cable.
Insulation used may be polyethylene or PTFE which is a plastic material that prevents contact with the conductor. This material is tough and less affected by flames.
The shield prevents electromagnetic interference from affecting the normal functioning of the cable. The shield is made of braided copper wire. Spacers are used to prevent the inner conductor and the shield from coming in to contact.
The material used for the outer jacket is PVC. This material is resistant to sunlight, moisture, radiation, corrosion, abrasion and impact.
