C-L-X power cables are recommended as an economical alternate to a wire in conduit system. They are designed specifically for use on feeders and branch circuits in industrial power distribution systems. C-L-X power cables may be installed in both exposed and concealed work, wet and dry locations, direct burial in the earth, or embedded in concrete. They may be installed on metal racks, troughs, in cable trays or secured to supports not greater than 6 feet apart. C-L-X power cables are also approved for Classes I, II and III. Divisions 1 and 2 and Class I, Zones 1 and 2 hazardous locations - NEC Articles 501, 502, 503 and 505. Medium voltage Non-Shielded cables discharge normally in service when spacing between phases is non-uniform or when phases are in close proximity to a grounded surface.
C-L-X Type MV-90 OR MC-HL
This is a type of multi-conductor cable designed with an operational voltage rating of 90 volts. It is made of three copper conductors which are insulated with an Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR). The cable is shielded with copper tape and sheathed with the Continuously Corrugated Welded (CCW) for maximum protection. C-L-X Type MV-90 cable has a minimum installation temperature rating of -400C.
The cable is made of compacted and annealed copper conductors as per ASTM B496 standards. It measures 4 AWG (American Wire Gauge) and ten feet long. Annealing is the process of heating the copper conductors and allowing them to cool; it makes them more soft and malleable without interfering with their good electrical conductive properties. This improves the flexibility aspect of Type MV-90 C-L-X cable. Flexible multi-conductor power cables are easy to install as they require less effort to twist and fold.

The cable’s insulation is made of Ethylene Propylene Rubber. EPR is a semiconductor and protects the user from risks like electrocution when installing or handling the cable. The EPR also improves the safety of this cable by protecting it from the punishing environmental conditions such as; strong sunlight radiations, corrosive industrial chemicals and deformations. This makes the cable durable.
Tough Polyvinyl Chloride with low temperature tolerance, offers a superb chemical and mechanical protection to this cable. It is yellow color coded for easy identification.
