Tray Cable 600v Low Smoke Zero Halogen Cable
This type of cable is made from a stranded tin-plated copper as per the standards of ASTM B33 and also a Class B stranding as per the requirements of ASTM B8. Pure copper is highly susceptible to oxidation which increases resistivity hence the need for tinning. The conductor is then stranded into a structurally rigid concentric core which is highly malleable and flexible.
The tinned copper conductor is insulated with a Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE). XLPE is an organic compound which is synthetic and with high dielectric strength. It is lead-free, low-smoke and flame-retardant hence very promising in terms of durability.
XLPE is also insoluble in polar solvents such as chemicals and acids. It is weather and ozone resistant yet highly flexible. Flexibility enables the cable to be folded to fit into ducts during installation and cable trays for transportation.
All the insulated conductors are brought together in one shape using a Zero-Halogen Polyolefin (LSZH) jacket. This LSZH material is highly suitable for its function of protecting the conductors and insulators from chemically and physically harsh conditions due to its properties such as being lead-free, having resistance to sunlight, being a flame retardant and low smoke.
This cable has multiple uses due to its vast properties of wide temperature and voltage ranges plus its compatibility to both dry and wet areas. These applications include;
