For use as a 600 volt, multi conductor power cable where flame retardance, and moisture/chemical resistance is critical. Cable can be installed in free air, in raceways or direct burial. The cable is also approved for wet or dry locations as well as Class 1 Division II industrial hazardous locations per NEC 501-4(b) for (UL) Type tray cables (TC).
Temperature rating of 90°C wet or dry. Insulation provides excellent electrical, thermal, and physical properties, excellent flame resistance and resistant to crush, compression, cuts and heat deformation. Also conductor insulation provides good low temperature (-25°C) cold bend characteristics.

Tray Cable W/G XLP/PVC XHHW-2 600V Industrial Cable
Tray Cable W/G XLP/PVC cable has bare copper as the conductor. This copper is fully annealed and stranded to the ASTM B3 standards. The stranding is also per ASTM B8. The conductor is annealed through heat treatment to make it hard, supple and highly malleable, factors that contributes to its overall toughness and great flexibility.
The copper wire has to be stranded to make it more compact yet so flexible for easy installation and transportation. Besides, stranding also makes the conductor thicker thereby reducing its resistance since resistance decreases with increase in surface area.
The bare copper wire is insulated using a black Cross-linked Polyolefin (XLP). The bare conductor has to be insulated to prevent electrocution to the user and also to protect it from physical and chemical damages. XLP is an organic compound with dielectric properties with resistance to weather, chemicals, moisture, some acids and above all a flame retardant.
This XLP material is also made very flexible to enable the cable to be folded to fit into ducts during installation and cable trays during transportation.
