Belden 9842 Applications:

Belden Multi Pair Overall Foil Shielded Low Capacitance RS-485 Computer Cable is a cable that is flexible and performs well over long distances. Belden 9842 is a specific type of multi-conductor cable that is frequently used in industrial settings, especially for instrumentation and process control applications.  However, it is most often used in computer automation systems. 

Due to its low capacitance and excellent shielding properties,Belden 9842 is commonly used for RS-485 applications, which is a standard for serial communication transmission of data. RS-485 is commonly used in industrial control systems, building automation, and other applications where long-distance data transmission is required. Common 9842 applications include POS, Computer communications, low voltage analog signals, low voltage digital control,  line level audio, panel wiring, and serial communication according to RS-485 standard.

The 9842 cable is designed for longer transmission distances with reduced noise interference. The combination of its construction and shielding ensures that signals are transmitted with minimal distortion and interference. Belden 9842 Construction:

Conductor: 

Belden 9842 cable has a tinned copper conductor with excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance. The conductors are stranded in pairs and the cable has a TC drain wire. The conductor is in size 24 AWG, has 2 pairs, and 7x32 stranding.

Insulation:

The cable has polyethylene insulation resistant to weather, abrasion, corrosion, flames, UV, impact, chemicals, acids, oils, sunlight, and industrial waste. 

Jacket:

The 9842 cable has a polyvinyl chloride PVC jacket.

Shielding:

The cable has Bi-Laminate (Alum+Poly) shielding (100% coverage) + TC braid shield (90% coverage).
