American Mustang Type MP-GC cables are designed for use with stationary horizontal HV mine power distribution circuits. It can be use for permanent or semi-portable applications with power transmission in deep mines, strip mines, open pits, and tunnels. The cable can be used in wet or dry locations, installed in conduit or duct, (not to exceed maximum rated voltage), and suitable for direct burial applications.
American Mustang Type MP-GC cables have compacted annealed copper conductors covered by an extruded semi-conductive shield. The conductors are insulated with a flame resistant cross-linked polyethylene (XLP). The insulation shield consist of a extruded semi-conductor covered by helically applied 3 mil copper tape with a 1/2 overlap. The cable has two copper bare ground wires and one yellow heavy duty EPR insulated ground check. Non-wicking fillers are used to maintain a balanced round cross section and a tight cable assembly. A woven nylon polyester reinforcement binder is applied over the completed assembly for added core to jacket integrity. The outer jacket is made with a flame retardant PVC.

Type MP-GC XLP Mining Industrial Cable

Type MP-GC Mining cable has three conductors: two bare copper wires and one ground with a yellow heavy duty insulation. Non-wicking filler applied is to help enhance conductor balance in the cross section and also tighten up the cable assembly.
This cable, also known as American Mustang Type MP-GC, is made from copper conductors. You well know that copper is the best electrical conductor but the one used for this cable is refurbished through some creative processes. These conductors are compacted which reinforces their strength, and annealed to perfect their quality of softness. This leads to a versatile copper conductor which is compacted and fully annealed.
A shield is basically to offer reinforcement for conductors especially when a cable is to be used in tougher conditions. Type MP-GC Mining cable has an extruded semi-conductive shield whose role is to protect the cable.
A flame retardant material, cross-linked polyethylene (XLP) insulation covers the conductors of this cable. Such an insulation enables the cable conductors to have longevity in their services and also curb occurrences of life threatening hazards. Another important part of this insulation is its shield which is made of extruded semi-conductor. This insulation shield has 3 mil copper tape with ½ overlap helically applied on its cover.
The cable has its outer jacket made from flame resistant PVC material, which provides an overall protection to the entire cable. PVC is not only flame retardant but also repulsive to any mechanical breakage, abrasion or tearing. A woven polyester nylon applied over the complete cable assembly is a reinforcement binder which improve the jacket integrity.
According to its design, American Mustang Type MP-GC cable is to be used in stationary horizontal High Voltage mine for power distribution circuits. It can also apply for either permanent or semi-mobile applications to offer power transmission in deep mines, strip mines, deep tunnels and even open pits.
Due to its high flexibility, it is approved that one can use the Type MP-GC cable in power installation, either in conduit or duct and also for direct burial applications. It operates without any problems in both wet and dry locations.
